BOB CHILD WESTERN & WILDLIFE PAINTER

My life as an artist has been a journey for as long as I can remember. As a youngster, observing

and exploring the world around me was an adventure, always fascinated by wildlife, horses and

cowboys. I have never lost the fascination and I’m still exploring and observing the world around me.

I look back on the experiences and memories in my life for those special magical moments in nature

and my lifestyle that inspires my paintings.

I began my art career as a commercial artist, but found I needed more freedom to express myself

and my interests.

After many years of working in black white with pen and ink, I started to experiment with

watercolor and later with acrylics. Being a self taught artist, I developed my own style and techniques.

I draw my inspiration from observing nature and the world around me,  Usually seeing a particular animal is what initially inspires me. I then try visualize the settings, memories and situations involving the species. I try to capture these moments in my paintings. I try to  manipulate and change the composition until it I feel it reflects my vision and emotions in regards to the subject matter. I strive  to create something that is captivating and pleasing to the eye.

I primarily paint in my studio, I do sketch and take a lot of photographs in the field for reference. I find it very gratifying to be able to create and feel the magic of manipulating my work into something that looks and reflects the real world as I invasion it. I am incredibly blessed to be able to do something I have such a passion and love for.

I get great satisfaction to think that when I’m gone from this would , I will have left paintings that inspire others to appreciate the true wonder and beauty of the natural world.

I currently live and paint in Magna, Utah with my lovely wife
